Mgahinga National Park: Located in south western Uganda, shares part of the Virunga mountain ranges where we find half of the world’s remaining population of the endangered mountain gorillas. Mgahinga National Park has only one gorilla family called Nyakagezi, very friendly and loved by visitors to the park.
However, this gorilla group is not stable because, some times it crosses the International boundary to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Its now 3 years ever since Nyakagezi returned to Uganda. Click for more
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in south western Uganda. It is a home to 440 mountain gorillas, which is half of the total population left in the whole world according to gorilla census report (2011). The report shows that, there are only 880 mountain gorillas left in the whole world, and half of it is found in Bwindi National Park, while rest of the population is found in the magnificent Virunga mountains, shared by Rwanda (Volcanoes National Park), Democratic Republic of Congo (Virunga National Park) and Uganda (Mgahinga national park).
