Tourist attractions in Uganda
Murchison Falls National Park
This is Uganda’s largest National Park, located in Northern part of the country. It’s approximately 4-5hours drive from Kampala capital. The park is famous for big game drives in search for animals like Giraffes, Elephants, Buffalo, Leopard, Lion and many antelope species. Tourists to this park can also enjoy fantastic boat cruise to the bottom of the Murchison falls, nature walks and excellent birding experience with over 350 species. In the same park, you can opt foe Chimpanzee tracking or habituation experience in Budongo forest.

Queen Elizabeth National Park
Second largest national park in Uganda, with over 600 bird species. Tourists enjoy big game drives for a wide variety of animals, as well as a fantastic boat cruise a long the Kazinga channel that connects Lakes Edward and George. This is known to have the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa, with huge Nile crocodiles and birds. Elephants, crocodiles and Buffaloes are seen basking along the shores. The boat provides a clear platform for photographing. A game drive in the Ishasha sector, located in southern part of the park rewards you with tree climbing lions. Kibale National Park
Located in western part of Uganda, famous for chimpanzee tracking and habituation experience. Kibale forest also hosts about 350 bird species as well as mammals such as forest Elephants and Buffaloes among others. Semilik National Park
Located in the same area with Kibale Forest. This is famous for Night Game Drive in such for nocturnal animals and birds. We also have Chimpanzee tracking, community / nature walk and Sempaya Hot Springs.
Lake Mburo National Park
One of the smallest wildlife parks in Uganda, located 3 hours drive from Kampala capital. Main tour activities include game drives, boat ride on Lake Mburo to see marine animals like Hippos and crocodiles, nature walk to the salt-lick area and bird watching. Value has been added to Lake Mburo National Park when 15 giraffes were transferred from Murchison Falls National Park to this park (Early July 2015). More visitors to this park are expected from 2016.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Located in south western part of Uganda, a home to half of the world’s remaining population of Mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is the main tourist activity in Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. This is one of the 4 national parks in the world where one can go and see the mountain gorilla sin their natural habitat. Other tourist attractions in the Batwa people (pygmies) with their Unique cultures and ways of life, bird watching as well as forest walks. Mountain gorillas leave in groups, each group comprises of a male silverback that heads the family, the mother, Juveniles and babies. Currently, Bwindi National Park have 13 habituated gorilla groups available for tourism purposes and these include Nkuringo Group, Nshongi, Mishaya, Businje, Bitukura, Oruzogo, Mubare, Kyaguriro, Kahungye, Habinyanja, Bikingi, Rushegura and Bushabo. Each gorilla group is visited once a day, a maximum of 8 persons in a group can go gorilla trekking daily.
Mgahinga National Park
Another home to mountain gorillas in Uganda, located in Kisoro, south western part of the country. Here we have only one gorilla group habituated known as “Nyakagezi”. Other tourist activities include golden monkey tracking, Mount Gahinga hiking, Batwa Trail and bird watching among others.
Tourist Attractions in Rwanda
Rwanda is a small land locked country, located in East Africa, bordered by countries like Uganda in the North, DR Congo in the West, Burundi in the south and Tanzania in the East. The country was hit by massive massacres in what was named as the 1994 genocide where about 1 million people were murdered in just 90 days. Since then, the country’s tourism industry is developing at a high speed and the major attractions include the genocide memorial sites / museums, Cultural and historical sites and mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park.
Volcanoes National Park Rwanda/ Parc National Des Volcans Rwanda
Located in the Northern part of the country, takes less than 2 hour’s drive from Kigali. The park attracts many tourists from allover the world to take mountain gorilla trekking adventures. Rwanda gorilla trekking cost is the highest in the region, determined by the cost of gorilla permits at US$750, compared to Uganda that sells at US$600 each. Other tourist activities here include golden monkey tracking, visit Dian Fossey grave yard, visit Musanze caves, visit and stay with the community, mountain hiking (Mt. Visoke and Karisimbi). Accommodations include Sabyinyo Silverback lodge, Virunga lodge managed by Volcanoes safaris, Mountain gorilla view, Amahoro Guest House, Le Bambou Lodge, Villa gorilla Rwanda and Kinigi Guest House among others. Nyungwe National Park
Located in south western part of Rwanda, about 5-6hours drive from Kigali. Nyungwe National Park Rwanda is a home to 13 primate species. Chimpanzee tracking is the most popular activity here. Other activities include colobus monkey tracking, canopy walk, birding, tea harvest, local community excursions, forest walks. Accommodation is available in Nyungwe forest lodge, Gisakura guest house, Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel and Peace Guest House.
Akagera National Park
Located in the Eastern Part of Rwanda near Tanzania boarder, aabout 3 hour’s drive from Kigali capital. Here tourists mainly go for game drives to see African animals like Giraffes, Elephants, Buffaloes, many antelope species, etc. More interesting, 15 lions have been transferred from south Africa to Rwanda’s Akagera National Park. Thus, more tourists are expected to visit this park.Lodging is available in Ruzizi Tented camp and Akagera Game Lodge.
Cultural and Historical Sites
As earlier noted about the genocide that hit Rwanda in 1994, many places including churches and schools where massive masscres took place were gazetted into genocide memorials. These attract many tourists from allover the world and these include Gisozi genocide museum in Kigali, Murambi Technical School, Nyamata and Ntarama Churches, Bissesero genocide museum and others. There are also historical sites like Nyanza Kings Palace, Rwanda national museum in Huye as well as the unique cultures of the Rwandans.
